Enough for a satisfying dinner, you will enjoy a sampling of mouth-watering food at 4 and 5 start restaurants sip on refreshing local drinks. Learn about food from the best chefs in Mexico. After all this you will attend the best Tequileria shop in town where you will get a tasting and a little history lesson of Tequila in Mexico and of course a big discount on more than 200 Tequila brand. After that you will be more than happy to walk that food of while you shop on the main shopping strip in Playa del carmen, 5ta Avenida.
How much does it cost per Adult?
The cost is $65 usd for our Local tour and $85 USD for our Gourmet which includes all tasting locations.
Where is the meeting point?
We meet Playa del Carmen downtown near the central bus station at 5:00PM, the specific meeting point is sent after you book with your confirmation voucher.
How much do we walk?
-On our Gourmet tour we walk around 1 mile in a span of 2.5 hrs.
-On our Local tour we walk around .7 miles and the rest you will be transported in taxi.
Do I have to purchase tickets in advance online?
All tickets must be purchased in advance online, just click "book" button thorugh out the page under the local tour description.
How much food is served on the local food tour?
-On our Gourmet tour you will enjoy the tasting of 6 different gourmet dishes at 3 different restaurants, two desserts and a Tequila tasting.
-On ourLocal tour you will enjoy the tasting 8 different local dishes, 1 deserts and a Tequila tasting.
Most tour participants don't finish eating all the food we offer so be sure to bring an empty stomach.
What other beverages are served on the tour?
-On our Gourmet tour you will be served 3 different traditional aguas frescas from regional fruit and flowers.
-On our Local tour aguas frescas from regional fruit and flowers and sodas will be offered and 1 beer at one of our stops.
Additionally, you can buy any drink you might want at any of the restaurants.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
Please be sure and let us know if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restriction, at the start of each tasting we will tell you exactly what you are eating and what does it have so you can choose if you eat it or not.
How many people can take the tour?
We divide or groups into packs of 12 if you are more than that we will just split you up and start with a 30 minute diference.
Are bathrooms available during the tour?
Yes, bathrooms are available at several of the food tasting locations.
Are cameras permitted on the tour?
Absolutely! Cameras are most certainly welcome and strongly encouraged. You will definitely want to show your friends some of the amazing food you ate.
Are there food tastings available for vegetarians?
Unfortunately we don't have a vegetarian menu.
At what time of the tour is the shopping done?
At the end of the food tour after the Tequila tasting we will be just steps away from the main shopping strip in Playa del Carmen so you can shop all you want at your own pace.
Are tour guide gratuities included in the price?
Food hoppers pays for all gratuities at restaurants so you dont have to worry about this but you are welcome to leave at your discretion if you want. The only gratuity not included is the one for your tour guide if you think he did a good job please let him know with a tip.
Where does the tour end?
Food hoppers Playa del Carmen Tours does not finish at the same location as the starting point. However, detailed instructions are provided after ticket purchase with starting and ending point locations. Additionally, all participants receive a map with return directions at the beginning of the tour. Return trips can be accomplished by walking, taking a taxi or a city bus.
Are young children allowed to participate on a tour? If so, how much will I need to pay?
Children of all ages, whether walking or in a stroller, can take one of our tours. If they are an infant and are not participating in the food tastings, there is no cost. Otherwise, please make sure that you purchase a discounted children’s ticket for your child.
Are the walking tours given in bad weather?
All our tours are held rain or shine. We kindly ask that you please look at the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Tickets cannot be cancelled due to the weather. Before purchasing tickets, please be aware of the possible weather conditions for that time of year.
